Choosing the Right Cycling Bicycles

There are several different reasons people choose to cycle as a mode of transportation. Many of these reasons are not at all related with how you like to travel. Some people choose to cycle because they need the exercise. The thrill of competition draws other people to the sport of cycling. Another group of individuals take pleasure in a simple, relaxed ride through their neighborhood. Regardless of why you are taking up cycling, you are going to have to consider a variety of things when choosing the bicycle that is a perfect fit for you. In order to assist you in your decision, we have put together a few tips.

One thing you can consider when choosing a bike is whether or not your feet can rest flat on the floor while you are sitting so you can stop yourself. Some experts, however, say that this is not a good idea. These people explain that the best way to pick a bike is to ensure there is a few inches between the ground and your feet, and you will be provided with a much more comfortable ride. If your feet are sitting flat on the ground while your butt is on the seat, this usually means that the seat is too close to the crossbar and will need to be adjusted for comfort. This is because when you are pedaling with this bike, your knees are going to come up too high.

Take 9" away from the total of your inseam if you plan to get a road bike. This is down to the tires a road bike equips. City riding is done with thin tires, designed to work perfectly with the smooth concrete roads and sidewalks you find in a city. With a mountain bike you will need to take away around one foot from the inseam. Again this is to account for the type of tires you will be using. These tires are designed to handle rocky and jagged terrain so are therefore thicker. You can use mountain link bikes for city cycling, but the opposite is not true and they are nowhere near as good on city streets as road bikes.

It is important you allow for room between you and the crossbar. When selecting a bike make sure you move the seat up slightly, to around a few inches above the height of the crossbar. Make sure you can place both feet on the ground if need be. You will want to leave different clearance lengths depending on the type of bicycle you are buying. For example a touring bike will require around an inch. If you are buying a mountain bike you’ll want more—three inches or so between you and the crossbar. There are a lot of things to think about when they are choosing which cycling bicycles are right for them. The durability of a bike may be the most important thing depending on how you intend to use it. Others need a bicycle that will help get them from point to point with very little chance of breaking down. Price may be the biggest thing you want to consider. Research is important when purchasing anything, especially a bike. You will also want to shop around to find the best deal. If you just get the first one you find it may not be the best suited for you and could even be a bad bike.
